What To Wear For NYE: Inspired By The Gals Of SATC

If you're following me on any type of social media, you'll have noticed I've recently gotten into the Sex And The City/The Carrie Diaries phenomenon people have been telling me for ages to watch. I don't know why I hadn't listened to them earlier! I've managed to watch every episode available so far of The Carrie Diaries and the first two seasons of SATC in the past two weeks.

Since I've been obsessing over Carrie Bradshaw and her empire for the past little bit, I've decided to do a themed outfit post of what I think Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte would wear if they were living as 18 year olds looking for something to do on New Years Eve.

Enjoy!

1. Carrie Bradshaw

For this look, I went with something I think The Carrie Diaries Carrie would go for. A girly silhouette with the dress, a strappy heel to go with it, and a statement jacket to throw over top. Can't forget the signature flashy necklace too! If only I had a 'J' necklace.. Hm..

Outfit:
Dress from Urban Outfitters
Jacket from Better Than Her Boutique
Shoes from Zara
Necklace from H&M

2. Samantha Jones

For Samantha, I opted for a more cheeky look, as she is pretty much the little spitfire of the group. A v-neck crop top, peplum bodycon skirt and my wine coloured velvet JC litas screamed her name from my closet.

Outfit:
Crop top from Urban Outfitters
Skirt from F21
Shoes from Nasty Gal (Jeffrey Campbell)
Clutch from Bootlegger
Chain from Claire's

3. Charlotte York

When I was dressing myself as I believe Charlotte would, I went for a more modest, but girly look. With the lines of the skirt, and the pairing of the sandals, I think I aced it. Although, I couldn't get her hair down. Ah well, there's something to work on!

Outfit:
Crop turtleneck from American Apparel
Skirt from Kastor & Pollux
Sandals from Urban Outfitters
Bracelet bought at the Fair Trade Market 2013
Earrings from Better Than Her Boutique

4. Miranda Hobbes

And finally, we have Miranda. For her, I chose a more masculine look going with pants instead of a dress. Along with that, I went for a darker lip and a simple, yet elegant, gold choker.

Outfit:
Top from Zara
Trousers from Simons
Shoes from Zara
Choker from F21

I had a lot of fun putting these looks together! It's cool to see what makes each character unique in the way they each dress themselves. I should get back to watching the rest of the episodes I can find online, though. Hehehe :)

Hope you all enjoy your NYE celebrations!
Stay safe,
Jaime

Like too much (hehe) so although some of those things are shown in this post, know a haul of some sort will be up shortly :)

In regards to this post, however, I'll be styling the Daedalus top, Thalia skirt (in yellow faux leather) and the Essie earrings from the Canadian brand Kastor & Pollux.

OOTD/Ns: Weekend Threads ft. Urban Outfitters

So, I had made an order for back to school off of Urban Outfitters a few weeks back in hopes that I would be able to wear the things I purchased to the first days of school..

But as it turns out, the box arrived in the mail just in time for me to slip on one of the dresses and head out the door last night (friday after school started)! Which brings me to the first outfit:

                                                                                         1. Last Nite

^^If I would have had a little more time to actually think about what I looked like last night, ^^
I probably would have went like this. (Instead I slipped a chambray shirt over top of the dress and paired it with an old pair of moccasins)

 Outfit:
Dress: Reverse, Urban Outfitters
Sandals: Kimchi Blue, Urban Outfitters

Makeup:
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked palette in shades Virgin and Smog, L'Oreal Infallible eye liner in Black Noir, and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara
Lips: Some red shade by Rimmel that I've had for the past 3 years
Face: Imperialis moisturizer from Lush

2. Saturday Morning

Denim skirts are a must-have for me. I just love how it gives you an option other than jeans when going for more a more casual look. Luckily with this one I ordered it in the (almost) correct size, so I'm not completely floating in it like the one I bought on American Apparel online last year. OOOOPS!

 Outfit:
Top: Romwe (It's my favorite!!)
Skirt: Neon Blonde, Urban Outfitters
Boots: Doc Martens 1460, Urban Outfitters (last year)

Makeup:
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked palette in shades Virgin and Smog, L'Oreal Infallible eye liner in Black Noir, and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara
Lips: Covergirl lipstick in shade 335 "Embrace"
Face: Imperialis moisturizer from Lush

                                                                                     3. Sunday Sundae

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this dress as much as I do! It's perfect for frolicking around and twirling, which comes in handy when you're someone like me who dances everywhere they go. As a side note: I'm almost 18, but I AM bringing pigtails back. Heh heh heh

Outfit:
Dress: Band of Gypsies, Urban Outfitters
Blazer: Thrifted
Sandals: Kimchi Blue, Urban Outfitters

Makeup:
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked palette in shades Virgin and Smog, L'Oreal Infallible eye liner in Black Noir, and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara
Lips: The same red shade as before
Face: Imperialis moisturizer from Lush

I hope everyone has one kick ass weekend!
Keep it cool,
Jaime

HOW I STYLE: Large Brim Hat / Pleather Skirt

This post will be focused around two pieces that don't get much use in my closet. These two things would be my black hat I got from Nasty Gal (I think probably around two years ago now) that I've never worn out in public yet, and my thrifted black pleather skirt. Enjoy!

Lips: Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl (It works as lipstick too, hehe!!)
Face: Benefit's Pore Professional, Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl, and mineral powder foundation from The Body Shop

2. Dreams (Stevie Nicks)
Outfit:
 Dress: Wasteland (Wildfox), $49
Shoes: Nasty Gal (Jeffrey Campbell), $113
Hat: Nasty Gal, $29 (I think)

Makeup:
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked palette in shades Virgin, Smog, and Creep, L'Oreal Infallible eye liner in Black Noir, and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara
Lips: Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl
Face: Benefit's Pore Professional, Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl, and powder foundation from The Body Shop

3. Spaced out
Outfit:
Sweater: Wasteland (Wildfox), $39
Skirt: Thrifted, $5

Makeup:
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked palette in shades Virgin, Smog, and Creep, L'Oreal Infallible eye liner in Black Noir, and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara
Lips: Covergirl lipstick in shade 335 "Embrace"
Face: Benefit's Pore Professional, Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl, and mineral powder foundation from The Body Shop

4. C'est magnifique!
Outfit:
Top: Little shop in San Fran, $17
Skirt: Thrifted, $5
Hat: Thrifted, $4 (I think)

Makeup:
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked palette in shades Virgin, Smog, and Creep, L'Oreal Infallible eye liner in Black Noir, and Benefit's Bad Gal mascara
Lips: Covergirl lipstick in shade 335 "Embrace"
Face: Benefit's Pore Professional, Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl, and mineral powder foundation from The Body Shop

And that's all she wrote.
Literally.
Sweet dreams,
Jaime

TRAVEL: Home From The States & Full Of Energy

And when I say full of energy, I mean it.

Other than getting lost in the back alleyways of the vegas strip, breaking our air conditioning mid-mohave desert in 45 degree weather, and having to skip a few big things on our lists, the trip was a grand success.  I'd have to say my favorite place/time during the trip was definitely in California going shopping on Melrose Ave. Yeah, that was by far my favorite day. I got to go into Wasteland which was closer to the top of my list of things to do. Oh, the shopping I did. I'd say best spree I've went on as of late. I was a portrait of excitement to just get home and organize my closet, integrating all of my new pieces into my (then) dull looking wardrobe.

For me, it's not the fact that I just blew a large sum of money on pieces of material to cover my back that brings those feelings of excitement so alive and vibrant. It's not so much about the names of the brands, and it's certainly not about having plenty of clothes just for the sake of it either. After watching Bill Cunningham New York, studying his genuine love for clothes; the different fits, the colors, the shapes, the patterns; it completely opened a new door into looking at and appreciating clothing that I had never really put much thought into before.

Another thing I really appreciated about California was the street art. There was an abundance of murals, posters and smaller decal lookin' things, some holding an impressive amount of meaning, others just looking plain cool.

Among other things, I discovered my true love for Bombay Bicycle Club and John Frusciante, my constant need for being in some form of motion, and my strong adoration towards cheeseburgers (the best one being at a hot springs resort in Montana). A lot of time spent driving through the winding roads in between unfathomable amounts of mountains can really show you these things.

I don't really have much else to say about this trip. Everywhere other than California and
BC at the end to visit family was pretty much a 10 second tour. Portland seemed cool. It reminded me of Halifax a lot. San Francisco as well. Montana was nice. The people were incredibly sweet, and exuded wonderful hospitality. I think next time I'd like to do this sort of trip with (a) friend(s)/ with a boyfriend or something though. Family is cool, but some things would just be more fun with friends. You know?

Anyway, I must go and style some outfits for an upcoming haul/lookbook I should have done and put up on my channel by the end of the week.

Here's a playlist of all of the songs I killed along the adventure. CLICK HERE FOR IT!!!

I hope everyone is having an ultra cool summer so far!
Stay k00l,
Jaime
